Last updated .
In plain words
- We keep what we need to run your account and your boards. We sell nothing and show no adverts.
- Your boards are private. Nobody sees them unless you share them, and an AI feature sees only what section 3 says.
- A cookie keeps you signed in. No analytics, no advertising.
- A few services we use see some of it, for payments, AI features, email and hosting. They are named below.
- You can download your data, and delete your account, in Account at any time. For anything else, write to us.
- Talk to us at info@3v3.dev.
The full notice below is what counts if anything is unclear.
1. What we hold, why, how long, and who else sees it
| What we hold | Why, and our lawful basis | How long | Who else sees it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your account: email address, display name, your password (kept only as a one-way hash), your Kinde id if you sign in with Kinde, when you joined, the referral link you came by if it had one, your print settings and PCB logo | To run your account. Contract. | While your account exists | Kinde, if you sign in with it |
| Signing in: a sign-in token (kept only as a hash), when it started and when it ends | To keep you signed in. Contract. | 30 days, or until you sign out | Nobody |
| Your choices: what you agreed to and chose, at sign-up and later (the Terms, being 16 or over, product news by email): yes or no, which version, where, when, and the IP address it came from | To show what you agreed to, and to keep to your choices. Legal obligation and legitimate interest. | While your account exists | Nobody |
| Your boards: your designs, their revisions and history, comments, share and watch links, and exports | To provide the service. Contract. | Until you delete them, or your account is deleted | Nobody, unless you share them; see AI features in section 3 |
| Agents and keys: each API key's name and a hash of it, when it was last used; a log of every tool call your agents make (which tool, when, whether it worked); the AI calls you make (tokens and cost) | To run the service, keep its limits fair, and show you your usage. Contract and legitimate interest. | While your account exists | Nobody |
| Billing: your Stripe customer id, plan, payments, invoices, credits and vouchers. Your card details are held by Stripe, never by us. | To bill you. Contract, and our legal duty to keep tax records. | While your account exists | Stripe |
| Boards you order through 3v3.dev: your email, the delivery name, address, phone number and company, and the board's manufacturing files | To have the boards made and delivered. Contract. | The delivery details are removed 90 days after the order is finished; the rest while your account exists | PCBWay, Stripe |
| Support: your messages in the support chat and by email, the page you wrote from, our replies and internal notes, a copy of a board if you include one, and the files and screenshots you send | To help you. Contract and legitimate interest. | While your account exists; deleted with it | Google, which carries our email; Anthropic, for messages our support agents read |
| Server logs: IP address, browser type, the page asked for, and the time | To keep the service secure and working. Legitimate interest. | Overwritten as the log grows: the last 14 files of 50 MB | Nobody |
| Part searches: what was searched for, not who searched | To make search better. Legitimate interest. | 90 days | Nobody |
| Agent tool failures: each time a tool fails for an agent: which tool, which error, which argument it was about and what was wrong with it (left out, the wrong kind of value, or a bad value), whether it was a mistake or a plan or permission limit, whether the agent then tried again, the day it happened (not the time), and a random number that names the row. Never who it was, which board or which key, and nothing that was typed or sent | To find where the agent tools trip agents up, and make them easier for every agent to use. Legitimate interest. | 90 days, then deleted | Nobody; it stays on our own server |
| Backups: a copy of all of the above | To recover from a failure. Legitimate interest. | 90 days, on our server and on a second machine of ours | Nobody |
2. Who we are
The controller of your personal data is 3v3.dev, a sole trader based in the UK. You can reach us at info@3v3.dev.
3. Who else sees it
We use these services. Each sees only what it needs:
- Stripe takes payments. It gets your email, your name, your account id, what you buy, and your billing address for tax.
- Kinde signs you in, if you choose to sign in with it. It gets your email and name, and handles the sign-in.
- OpenRouter runs the AI features, and passes each request to the AI model that answers it. The AI features are switched off on 3v3.dev today, so nothing is sent to it. When they are on, an AI review sends a text summary of your board, not the board itself, and adding a part from a photo sends the photo and your note. We ask OpenRouter to use only providers that do not keep or train on what they are sent.
- LCSC and EasyEDA give us part prices and footprints. They get a part number and nothing about you.
- PCBWay makes boards, if you order them through 3v3.dev. It gets the manufacturing files and the delivery details.
- Google carries our email (info@3v3.dev): support mails, files you ask us to mail you, and order updates.
- Anthropic makes the Claude AI models that our support agents run on. It gets the support messages an agent reads, and the agent's answers. Our account with Anthropic is set so that it does not use these messages to train its models.
- Hetzner rents us the server that holds all of this, in Finland. We run the server ourselves.
We do not sell your data, and we send no marketing email today.
The support chat. When you write to us in the support chat, we keep what you write, when you wrote it and the page you were on, with your account, as a support conversation. If you start it from a board, we also keep a copy of that board as it was at that moment, so we can see what you saw. Each message is passed straight to our team's own internal chat, which we run ourselves, so that a person or an AI agent working for us (running on Anthropic's Claude models) can answer. We may add internal notes to the conversation, which you do not see. When we reply, we email you. Once written, a message cannot be changed, so the conversation stays an accurate record. It is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete your account, along with its internal notes and the board copies; copies in our backups expire within 90 days. You can send us files with a message: a screenshot of your board or of your screen, a pasted screenshot, a PDF, a text or design file, or a zip. We capture your screen only when you press Capture screen, and only after your browser asks you; we take one picture and stop. Pictures are sent as PNG without camera or location data. Files are kept with the conversation, on the same terms, and our support team sees them, including in our own internal team chat; they are in your account download. Files you attach but do not send are deleted within a day. We never open a zip on our servers.
A human review of a board. A person from 3V3 looks at one of your boards only if you allow it: you choose the board or one revision and for how long (an hour, a day or a week). They can view it but not change, export or order it; you can end it at any time, and you see each time they open it.
4. Cookies and your browser
The public site at 3v3.dev sets one cookie, and only if you answer our question about counting visits:
- v3_analytics keeps your answer to "May we count visits to improve 3V3?", yes or no, and when you gave it. It is set only when you answer, lasts 180 days, and covers both the site and the app. If you are signed in, your answer is also kept with your account. You can change it at any time with "Privacy choices" at the foot of every page, in the account menu, or in Account. We count nothing today, whatever you answer.
The app sets the same one, and two more that it needs to work:
- v3_session keeps you signed in. It holds a random token and lasts 30 days, or until you sign out.
- v3_kinde exists only while you sign in with Kinde, and lasts ten minutes.
The app also keeps a few things in your browser on your device: your delivery address, the clipboard, your view settings, your recent parts, and edits made while offline. We receive them only when you use them, for example when you place an order or an offline edit is saved.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- see and get a copy of your data. In Account, "Download my data" gives you your account details, plan, invoices, keys by name, consents and a list of your boards as one file, and "Download all my files" gives you a zip of your boards themselves. For anything they do not include, write to us.
- have your data corrected. Write to us.
- have your data deleted. You can delete your boards at any time, and your account in Account, under "Delete your account". That deletes it at once, with your boards, keys, logs, support messages and consents. We keep the records of what you paid for, such as invoices and board orders, for six years, as UK law requires. Backups expire within 90 days.
- object to how we use your data, or ask us to restrict it. Write to us.
- withdraw a consent you have given. For product news by email, use the switch in Account. For anything else, write to us.
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
Write to us at privacy@3v3.dev for anything about your data.
6. Outside the UK
Our server is in Finland, in the EU. Some of the services in section 3, including Stripe, OpenRouter and the AI model providers, Anthropic, Kinde and Google, may handle your data outside the UK.
7. Coming
Nothing is waiting to be built at the moment. When something this notice describes is not live yet, it is listed here until it is.
8. Changes to this notice
When what we hold or whom we share it with changes, we update this notice and the date at the top.
